Dark Skies: What’s it all about

Sunset On Shaddelow’s Hill – David Lowe

The latest Dedham Vale Society will give you the opportunity to learn about the Dark Skies in the Dedham Vale!

Hear from experts on why we need them and how the Dedham Vale Society is trying to implement awareness of the conservation of the night. Learn more about the successes they have had so far in their campaign.

The event is taking place at 7:30pm, on Friday 13th February at the Dark Sky Discovery Centre, Thorington Street, CO6 4SS. This will be followed by a presentation on the wonders of the constellation of Orion and the Orion Nebula.

After the talk there will be refreshments provided which will be followed by observing through telescopes guided by our expert team of Astronomers (weather permitting)

Places are limited to 30 guests so booking is essential email [email protected] to reserve your seat.

Please note that it will be dark and the ground is a little uneven.  You can bring a low powered torch (preferable with a red light) which should be pointed towards the ground at all times. The ground underfoot is reasonably flat and well drained so normal outdoor footwear is suitable.
