Defra Capital Funding

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) has allocated capital funding towards helping land within National Landscapes and National Parks become greener, wilder and better able to support nature.
Capital funding is available to support delivery of the government’s priorities for protected landscapes as set out in the Protected Landscapes Targets and Outcomes Framework.
The Dedham Vale National Landscape has received £108,255 in additional funding from Defra to support capital projects. We will consider expressions of interest up to the full amount of the funding. However, it is likely we will look to support a range of projects with the funding available.
Criteria & Eligibility
Projects can be those which:
- Enable land within protected landscapes to become greener and wilder
- Increase the contribution that areas within protected landscapes are making to the Protected Landscapes Targets and Outcomes Framework
- Research and Development (R&D) may also be funded within capital expenditure e.g creative work undertaken to increase the stock of knowledge and inform future management
Labour costs will only be funded if the costs can be directly linked to the creation/enhancement of an asset. e.g. where the costs are essential for bringing the asset to its intended use.
Please note that funding is conditional on the following:
- Any planning permission must be in place when you apply and any other consents required assessed as very likely to be achieved
- The granted funded work must be delivered and paid for in 2026/27. All works must be complete and invoiced by 1st March 2027.
If you are unsure of applying and require further information or to discuss your potential project please contact Jack Pynn at [email protected] or phone 01394 445225.
