Wetland enhancement project
£55,000 of Defra Access Funding was spent by the Dedham Vale National Landscape team on the creation and restoration of various different wetland enhancement features.
The works took place across various sites in the National Landscape. The enhancements will lead to increased feeding and breeding opportunities for a range of animal and plant species.
A number of Dedham Vale National Landscape Nature Recovery Plan Species are set to benefit including lapwing, turtle dove, water vole, grass snake, swift, yellow wagtail and common toad.
- 6 x Restored ponds
- 18 x Wildlife scrapes
- 8 x Flashes & footdrains
- 400m fencing to protect wildlife from recreational disturbance
The sites involved in the project included Dedham Therapy Centre, both Woodlands Farm and Eel Pond in East Bergholt, National Trust land in Flatford, and RSPB Cattawade Marshes.
