Focus on Landscape Lens

Aerial view of fields and villages

Last year was the 50th anniversary of Dedham Vale and Coast & Heaths both being designated as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

As part of this celebration, we were awarded a grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund for £129,000, to run a series of initiatives to celebrate this milestone.

Throughout last year we have been working on the project and would like to introduce Landscape Lens to you.

Landscape Lens is a fixed-point photography initiative, where we aim to create a catalogue of photographs from fixed locations throughout both the AONBs.

It is a project which, once lockdown and travel restrictions permit, we hope we encourage both visitors and residents to explore new areas, re-visit old ones and create a legacy of photographs over next five years.

We have been researching possible locations for the posts, which is no mean feat in this area as we are totally spoilt for choice!

Over the next few weeks, we will be explaining more about the project and what we hope to achieve, introducing some of the confirmed locations and what prompted our choices, as we prepare to install the posts in line with government guidelines and restrictions being lifted.
