Celebrating the heroes of the Dedham Vale

A group of volunteers

Nominations have opened for the award that recognises the amazing contributions of individuals, groups, and organisations in the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The Robert Erith National Landscape Award recognises the hard work and outstanding contributions by people to make the area an even better place for wildlife, communities, and visitors alike.

Anyone can be put forward for the award if you believe they have made an outstanding contribution to the AONB in areas such as landscape and farming, biodiversity, tourism, community engagement, outdoor education, culture or heritage and access to the countryside.

The award is named after Robert Erith, the former Chairman of the Dedham Vale AONB & Stour Valley Partnership and lifelong advocate for this special landscape.

Last year’s winner was Adrian Silvertown who was recognised his incredible work creating a bespoke field survey app as part of the Hedgerow Heroes Project, funded by CPRE, the Countryside Charity, and delivered locally by Suffolk Preservation Society and the Stour Valley Farmer Cluster.

Nominations can be made online, and all nominations are welcome at www.dedhamvalestourvalley.org/awards. The closing date for applications is Tuesday 31st January 2023.

Alternatively, you can get in touch by phone on 01394 445225 or email at dedhamvale.project@suffolk.gov.uk.
