Farming in Protected Landscapes Case Study:
Dedham Vale – Wayside Benches
In 2024, £5,155 was awarded to the Stour Valley Farmer Cluster to enable several Cluster members to erect locally made wooden benches on their land alongside a public right of way or permissive path.
The sites for the benches were chosen so that walkers and visitors can rest and enjoy the beautiful, restful views along the Dedham Vale National Landscape.
Benches are positioned alongside well used rights of way and relatively close to villages, so will improve the access opportunities for local residents and visitors by providing resting spots.
The benches will be especially useful for those whose ability to walk long distances in one stretch is limited. There are 11 in all, and we hope visitors enjoy them for many years to come!
