Black Poplar saplings available

Black poplar restoration

We are working with Suffolk Tree Warden Network and Essex Forest Initiative again this year to distribute more Black Poplar saplings into the wider Suffolk and Essex landscape.

A fantastic landscape tree which has disappeared from our landscape over time. See here for more information on the Suffolk Tree Warden Network website.

Cuttings from our Black Poplar trees at our clone bank in Alphamstone were taken in February and grown on into containerised saplings by volunteers from Nowton Park.

These saplings will be available to landowners with appropriate land in which to plant them, so near rivers, ditches, ponds and flood plains.

Landowners can order as many Black Poplars as they like, please specify the number of males and females requested. We can’t promise we can meet every request but we will try.

Collection of black poplars will be on

  • Wednesday 13th & Thursday 14th November 2024, from 9am to 8pm.

Collection address: Charity Barn, Charity Farm, Livermere Road, Great Barton, Bury St. Edmunds IP31 2QE
