An annual grants scheme that sees over £30,000 awarded to community projects across Essex and Suffolk has opened for applications.  

Every year, the Dedham Vale National Landscape hands out over£30,000 in grants to individuals, organisations such as schools and wildlife conservationists, and community groups to fund projects that help to conserve and enhance the special landscape. 

The Dedham Vale National Landscape stretches from Bures to Cattawade through the Stour Valley and has been designated for its national significance and natural beauty. The area includes popular Dedham and Flatford, made internationally famous by artists such as John Constable and Thomas Gainsborough. 

There are two grant funds open for applications, each offering different levels of funding for varying purposes. Applications are welcomed from projects that represent the widest range of society possible and the funds support equality of opportunities to access grants.  

Previous examples of projects funded include enhancements to community nature reserves such as interpretation and boardwalks, photography walks for primary schools, wheelchair accessible picnic tables, wildlife community events, and new habitats for wildlife.
